Good morning and welcome to St Barnabas Stoke – if you are visiting today we hope you encounter God’s goodness and love for you as you join us in worshiping Him, please feel free to stick around afterwards for a coffee and a chat.

The following was received by me from Annie Fraser, the diocesan secretary:

  1. This memo provides information on the number of seats available per parish for parishioners to attend the ordination and installation service for Revd. Steve Maina, to be held at Christ Church Cathedral, Nelson on Saturday, 31 August 2019 at 9.30am (seated 9.00am)
  1. Unfortunately, because of the limited capacity of the Cathedral, the number of seats available for parishioners is limited and has been assessed according to numbers in the parish. For Stoke parish, 10 seats are available for parishioners to attend. (In addition, some parishioners may already have been invited because of their membership on diocesan committees.)
  1. We are leaving it up to the Vicar/Priest in Charge of the parish to decide how these seats are allocated. You may wish to give priority to your wardens and/or Synod representatives, or you may simply wish to hold a ballot for those interested in attending. Steve Maina is keen to have young people present, so you may like to include them with this allocation.
  1. Unfortunately venue capacity is also limited at the Trafalgar Centre for the light lunch following the service. This means we are   restricted to inviting only two of your 10 parishioners to the lunch at the Trafalgar Centre. We are sorry we have to place this limit, but trust that those who come to the   service only, will enjoy their day together nevertheless.

Let me know by email (philgreta@hotmail.com) if you are someone that wants to be considered.

The world famous (in Stoke) St Barnabas Quiz night is on again! Get your team of up to 8 people together for Saturday 3 August. The Quiz night is an easy way for us to invite those that might not have a lot to do with church into our church. For a lot of  people this can be a bit of an eye opener that church people are normal (mostly!), friendly and  like to have a fun time. These little things can change people’s preconceived ideas. It would be great to have the church packed full – so get your team organized this week.

Yours in Christ

Phil
