Good morning and welcome to St Barnabas Stoke – if you are visiting today we hope you encounter God’s goodness and love for you as you join us in worshiping Him, please feel free to stick around afterwards for a coffee and a chat.

Anita Jones – Stiles (the Bishop’s PA) has made a request calling for volunteers for the upcoming Bishop’s Ordination on Saturday 31 August this year. As you know these events don’t just happen, they require people! Below are some of the areas where we need volunteers to help and would be grateful for anyone able to commit to this.

–        Catering *(refer below):  Servers/waiting staff

–        Traffic and carpark wardens

–        Clean-up helpers

Some of this would obviously be quite physical so we are looking for able-bodied people who don’t mind standing for long periods of time.

More specifically to the food side of things the catering team has requested a total of 16 volunteers to be at the Trafalgar Centre by 11.45am on Saturday 31 August for a Health and Safety briefing and orientation, followed by serving at the event between 12.30 and 3.10pm. This would be a team of 10 people as servers at a food station and includes walking around with platters of food; and 6 people at a counter serving tea and coffee (a home group might like to do this one!)

Anyone interested to please respond to this request by email to: bishops.pa@nelsonanglican.nz  and let us know which area you are keen to help with or whether you would have any limitations on the day or phone Anita or Rachel at the Anglican Centre 03 548 3124 with any queries you have or for further info. Thank you! – The Nelson Anglican Planning Team.

The world famous (in Stoke) St Barnabas Quiz night is on again! Get your team of up to 8 people together for Saturday 3 August. The Quiz night is an easy way for us to invite those that might not have a lot to do with church into our church. For a lot of  people this can be a bit of an eye opener that church people are normal (mostly!), friendly and  like to have a fun time. These little things can change people’s preconceived ideas. It would be great to have the church packed full – so get your team organized this week.

The weekly Prayer Meeting starts again this Tuesday at 7.30am. All are welcome, it is a great way to start the day.

Yours in Christ

Phil
