Good morning and welcome to St Barnabas Stoke – if you are visiting today we hope you encounter God’s goodness and love for you as you join us in worshiping Him, please feel free to stick around afterwards for a coffee and a chat.

From Andrew Burgess – Dean of Bishopdale College:

We are very encouraged to report a record number of full-time students in the College this year. Last year we moved to have a number of students enrolled in a one year Diploma that involves significant leadership focus and Internship (a Laidlaw College Diploma at BTC). This year more students again have joined us to study and train in this way, so that we have a large group of Interns. We also have full-time students in degree programmes and a number of part-time students, bringing us up to a total that is equivalent to over 17 full-timers.  Our part-time students are an important part of the life of the College. The key thing is this:  the College offers training towards diplomas and degrees, but diplomas and degrees are not the point. We want everyone who studies at BTC to be growing in vision, understanding and skill to serve God.

The great thing about this is that these people are all developing and growing while exploring their call into various forms of mission and ministry. We are working to emphasize obedience to God and working in God’s mission as the key ‘DNA’ of all Christian life and of Christian leadership. Some will find that they are not called to any sort of full-time Christian role, others will find that they are. They are all being equipped to understand and work in God’s mission – in service of God – wherever God takes them and in whatever role.

Of course, all this stretches our College, but that is exciting too. We are adapting and learning all the time, trying to gain greater skill and more ‘traction’ in the work before us. Please continue to support us in every way you are able, as we continue to work. Your prayers are important, as is whatever financial support the Lord leads you into. If you would please pray for all staff and students, and also for our work with the New Zealand Qualifications Authority, that would be a great blessing.

Yours in Christ

Phil
