Good morning and welcome to St Barnabas Stoke – if you are visiting today we hope you encounter God’s goodness and love for you as you join us in worshipping Him, please feel free to stick around afterwards for a coffee and a chat.

For the Diary…

Archbishop Philip is pleased to announce that the service of ordination and installation of Steve Maina as Bishop of Nelson will take place on Saturday 31 August at 9.30am at Christ Church Cathedral, Nelson.

Bishop Elect Steve has advised that a considerable contingent from Kenya will be arriving to help celebrate his ordination as Bishop.  He hopes that several of these guests will be able to spend about a week in each parish across the diocese following the ordination, to share in the life and worship of the parish. We will be seeking a number of billets in each parish to share hospitality with our brothers and sisters in Christ from Kenya during their visit.

Dates for Easter

9.30am Good Friday is our Reflective Service followed at 10.30am by the Stoke Cross Walk stopping at Stoke churches along the way and ending at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for hot cross buns and a cuppa.

On Easter Sunday we gather for breakfast at 9.30am followed by our combined communion service at 10.00am.

The youth Group is heading off to Easter camp down in Christchurch, with other youth groups from the Diocese, If you would like to financially support them in this trip please note on your giving envelope, and of course keep praying for them.

On the first of May I will be heading over to London for the HTB leadership conference as part of my professional development,. I’m travelling with Simon Martin from All Saints and Ian Hussey from St Barnabas. You may recall that Greta and I went to the same conference a couple of years ago and had a wonderful time. Apart from going to the conference we will also attend several churches, meeting with other Church leaders and may even catch up with a couple of bishops! I will be heading up to Leads to visit a friends Church for a weekend as well. I will be back home 17 May.

A Lenten reading from Isaiah 43:18-19

“Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.”

Peace be with you

Philip
