Good morning and welcome to St Barnabas Stoke – if you are visiting today we hope you encounter God’s goodness and love for you as you join us in worshipping Him, please feel free to stick around afterwards for a coffee and a chat.

It’s good to be back after a week off, thanks to Luke and the team for running the place while I was away. I heard the combined service went really well.

Thanks again to everyone that helped with the food for the conference at the Lake and to Bex, Ian, Linda and Peter for all the hard work of making it all happen. We raised over four
thousand dollars.

A big thank you to Ruth and John and their home group for all the work and energy with the garage sale yesterday, I don’t at this time know how much was raised but I am sure it was a great success.

This is turning in to a big thankyou column!

Thanks to all the people that helped to raise money for the youth to go to spring camp last weekend, and the donations. I have heard that the camp was a real great time, one of the best, and that  a couple of youth that went as part of the St Barnabas youth team that don’t came to church made first time commitments to Jesus. This is the body of Christ working together to share the good news about Jesus. One gives a little, someone invites, someone encourages, and the good news is spread. Please pray for the youth and their faith that it may be deepened and grow.

I ask that all of you pray for the next Bishop of Nelson. This is a critical time in the life of the church in New Zealand, we are facing many new challenges in an ever changing culture. The next Bishop will have many difficulties to face, but we know the in every difficult time there is a great opportunity for God to do amazing things, to do the things only he can do. The good news is that he invites you and me to be a part of these amazing opportunities. Next Saturday 3 November there will be continuous prayer throughout the Diocese. St Barnabas will be open from 5.00pm to 6.00pm for prayer for discernment. Please come and pray. There is also information on the appointment  process for the Bishop on the noticeboard.

As you know, Luke is leaving us around Christmas time, can we all pray for him and his family, that God will leading them into the next step of ministry, for new and exciting opportunities. Luke’s leaving also opens up a new opportunity for us as a church, for someone new to come on board and take up the leadership of our worship teams, it would be good to have your prayers for this as well.

Lots to be thankful for and lot to pray about!

Yours in Christ

Philip
