Good morning and welcome to St Barnabas Stoke – if you are visiting today we hope you encounter God’s goodness and love for you as you join us in worshipping Him. Please feel free to stick around afterwards for a coffee and a chat.

Last Sunday we had the end of term family service, with all the children and youth involved in the service. If someone had been walking past St Barnabas they might have thought there was a comedian speaking, there was so much fun and laughter! The youth band led the worship brilliantly, the children brought the word:

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose”

- Romans 8:28

Then the youth group Video of Kevin the prodigal son had some in tears. This was all good and there was a great sense of family. The thing is that behind all these amazing children and youth we have some brilliant leaders that give their time and engage to make these groups happen. We are so thankful to these people as without them these groups would not happen. If you would like to be a part of the team that helps run these groups please do come and see me, this is a really great way to encourage these children in the faith.

This coming week the leadership (Church staff) will be up at the lake for the leadership retreat. This will be the last retreat that Bishop Richard will be involved in. Please continue to pray for the Nelson Diocese over the next couple of days as we all meet together. There will be a team of people from St Barnabas helping cater for the retreat. Please keep them in your prayers as well. David will still be in the office if you are in need of help. Thank you to everybody that made biscuits and other food for this event, it is a great fundraiser for the church.

It is just under a month until our Church Garage Sale. So if you have anything that you are wanting to clean out of the house or garage (please no old tv’s or broken things) then you can start bringing items to the church hall.

I will be away over the next two week on annual leave, from tomorrow for two days at the retreat then off until Tuesday 23 October. Please ring the church office if you are in need of anything.

Yours in Christ

Phil
