The Inside Column 3/12

Hi and good morning from the Vicar. If you are visiting us today we hope you feel welcomed and encouraged as you encounter God’s presence with us and hang out with our whanau. Feel free to stick around afterwards for a coffee and to get to know some of our people.

What a great night on Friday, with Luke being ordained Priest. Thanks to everyone that came along to support him and to those that helped with supper. Please keep Luke and family in your prayers as he continues his training for his life as a priest.

We have a family coming to church that are in need of a couple of household items. We are looking for some blankets and a bed, if you have extra blankets or a bed can you please bring them to the church office.

At St Barnabas we have a small food bank that we are able to help some families with food, from time to time when needed. At Christmas we would like to bless others by putting together a couple of food parcels for some church and community families. If you are able to put one small Christmas food item in the basket at the back of church we will put them to good use and help some families this Christmas.

Here is an update on the church Made new project

Funds as at end of October:

From Pledge Day                     $ 54,500.00

Other Funds Available               $ 54,000.00

Diocesan Funding                   $ 10,000.00

Total To Date                           $118,500.00

This is a massive blessing and we are so thankful for Gods provision in this project. For those of you that are still to give please you mark you pledge with Made New Project clearly to avoid any confusion.

We are looking at starting the work on the church roof in April next year, but this is still to be confirmed. I you have not given to this project yet, it is not too late, we are still some way short of covering the complete costs of replacement.

Please note all the dates for Christmas events coming up in the updated ‘What’s on in December’ sheet. This is a great time of year to be able to invite people that would not normally come to church.

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

- Philippians 4:4-7

 God Bless,
