Good morning and welcome to St Barnabas Stoke. If you are visiting today we hope you encounter God’s almighty grace for you and loving presence as you join us in worship. Please feel free to chat with us afterwards over a coffee and meet some of our people.

We are well on our way. Last weekend we had our Gift Day for the Made New Project and we raised over $60,000. This is truly an amazing outcome. Thank you to everybody that has made a pledge or a one off donation toward this project. And of course, we give thanks to Christ, for it is through Him that we have these talents to build His kingdom.

We pray God will use the physical work we do on the building to increase the spiritual growth in the people that call St Barnabas home and all who come into this place. Please keep this work in your prayers over the coming months.

Vestry will be meeting over the next couple of months and will be working out the best time frame for this work and if we will need a short team loan to see this work through to completion.

This week we continue our series out of the Ten Commandments with ‘Thou Shall Not Murder’. I don’t know about you but I can’t think of a time I killed someone, so this one should be easy right?

You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, “You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.” But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, “Raca,”is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, “You fool!” will be in danger of the fire of hell.

- Matthew 5:21-22

Luke will be shedding some more light on this commandment today.

Next Sunday our guest speaker is David Riddell.  He will be with us at both services, and will be speaking on ‘You Shall Not Commit Adultery’. David and his wife run the Living Wisdom School of Counselling and has changed the lives of thousands of people through his counselling. David always brings a challenge. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear him speak.

Have you got your team organised for our Quiz Night? This fun night is at 7.00pm Saturday 28 October. Get a group of friends together, to test you brain matter, win some prizes and have a great night out. Tickets from the office.

A date for your diaries – Saturday 11 November for the annual church fair. If you have stuff to go into the White Elephant, you can drop items off to the Church Hall. Volunteer signup sheets for helpers will be in the foyer soon.

Have a great week

Phil
