Good morning and welcome to St Barnabas Stoke. If you are visiting today we hope you encounter God’s almighty grace for you and loving presence as you join us in worship. Please feel free to chat with us afterwards over a coffee and meet some of our people.

Four Sunday’s ago we launched the Made New Project. As many of you already know the church roof needs to be replaced. From time to time (when it rains) it leaks. The roof is clad with
asbestos tiles and we are planning on replacing these with long run steel like the Foyer and Crèche roof.

At the same time as doing this Vestry would like to upgrade some other components of the Church:

  • Carpet the church auditorium
  • Upgrade the audio-visual
  • Investigate heating options
  • More church chairs and tables
  • Refurbish our facilities

The main reasons for the Made New Project are:

  • Make the church warm, dry and inviting for people
  • Develop the church for future generations
  • Create flexible spaces for ministry

With all of this in mind we are looking to raise $160,000. Exciting Stuff! I believe that together we can raise this sort of money without having to go to the Diocese for a loan, or to take many years to raise this money.

My personal ethos towards money and giving has always been 2 Corinthians 9:7

You should each give, then, as you have decided, not with regret or out of a sense of duty; for God loves the one who gives gladly.

Today’s combined service is the occasion for us to all come together, with our pledges, donating with cheerful hearts and celebrate being Made New.

There are two options to consider:

  • Increase your regular giving each week    and/or
  • Make a one-off donation.

Mark your Pledge Card and return it in the Made New Project envelope. All donations are tax deductible.

Saturday 28 October is the new date for our Quiz Night. This is a fun night were you can get a group of friends together, to test you brain matter, and have a great night out. Please let the office know if you want to reserve a table.

A date for your diaries – Saturday 11 November for the annual church fair. If you have stuff to go into the White Elephant, you can drop items off to the Church Hall. Volunteer sign up sheets for helpers will be in the foyer soon.

Have a great week

Phil
