The Inside Column 11/6

Good morning and welcome to St Barnabas Stoke – if you are visiting today we hope you encounter God’s almighty grace for you and loving presence as you join us in worship. Please feel free to chat with us afterwards over a coffee and meet some of our people.

When the priests withdrew from the Holy Place, the cloud filled the temple of the Lord. And the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled his temple.  - 1 Kings 8:10-11

This has been the focus for us this year “for the glory of the Lord filled his temple”. God’s presence here on earth is not in a box but is in his people, through Jesus, through the cross and through the resurrection.

What we are really asking is “what does it look like to meet with God?” We see this as the key to all we do at St Barnabas as our vision and desire is that this is a place to meet God.  Again this shapes all we do; we make decisions about what we do with this in mind.

We are nearly half way through the year. I want to encourage us again to push into understanding this passage, pray and seek what it means for the glory of the Lord filled his temple.

Yours in Christ

Phil
