Good morning and welcome to St Barnabas Stoke – if you are visiting today we hope you encounter God’s almighty grace for you and loving presence as you join us in worship. Please feel free to chat with us afterwards over a coffee and meet some of our people.

We are back! Yes after three weeks and a lot of miles we are back. A big thank you to Luke for taking the lead over the time we were away, and to all the people that have no doubt helped with the running of the Church.

Greta and I had a truly great time, the HTB Leadership conference was amazing with a great range of speakers from all different walks of life, amazing times of worship and great workshops. On one Sunday I went to five different church  services, had some great times talking with different church leaders. We had a great time, and it is good to back, even though it is a bit cold.

Today we have Andrew Burgess the Dean of BTC with us. Andrew and his team at the college are doing an amazing Job of training people in theology and for leadership in the church and the world. BTC is dedicated to God’s mission. Their job is not just to give information or develop skills; their job is to serve God by serving disciples who want to grow. The everyday of College life is focused around tutorials, prayer, and study. The centre of College life is those times when we set out in mission together – in cross-cultural and international partnerships where God shakes our cage. We learn to trust and to rely on God – sometimes we learn we are not who we thought, but God is good! BTC partners with Laidlaw College to offer Laidlaw degrees and diplomas. These are fully accredited by the NZ Government, and attract normal student funding. BTC also offers a breadth of training opportunities without Government accreditation and are designed to be very focused and very flexible for God’s people in learning for serving. Read the insert in today’s pew sheet and if you would like to find out more about taking some courses at the college, cheek out their web site www.bishopdale.ac.nz

At St Barnabas we want to be a place to meet with God…

When the priests withdrew from the Holy Place, the cloud filled the temple of the Lord. And the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled his temple.    - 1 Kings 8:10-11

This is my prayer for all of us, that we will dwell with the living God, we will hear his voice, we will hear his call on our lives and that we will be obedient to his call.

Yours in Christ

Phil
