Good morning and a very warm welcome to you. We invite you to join us after the service for a hot drink and fellowship.

Good to be back… You know what it is like after you have been away from work for some time and the last couple of days of your holiday you start thinking about work, what you have to do and all the things that need doing and start thinking you should just go back to work! Anyway it is good to be back.

I hope you all have had some time off, and have spent some time with family and friends, that you feel refreshed and excited about the New Year. A big thank you to all the people that keep the church going over the holidays. It is great to have such a great and talented group of people to take charge, thank you all very much.

We have a big start to the year, with Luke starting this week as our Curate, Luke and his family will be moving into the Vicarage late February.

Its only three weeks until Convergence Camp at Kaiteriteri on starting Friday 17 February through to Sunday 19 February with Bishop Justin Duckworth coming over from Wellington to be our speaker.

Saturday 25 February is the date for the Banquet in the Garden mission fundraiser. Put the date in your diary get a group of friends together and come along for a great evening of food, live music
and fun.

There is one word you are going to hear a lot over the next couple of months and that is Alpha. We will be running the new Alpha course starting on the Wednesday 3 May. Alpha has been around a long time now. For those that don’t know what it is, Alpha is a ten week course that introduces people to the Christian faith; it is a safe place for people to ask questions about Christianity. The Course is run one night a week from 6.00pm until 9.00pm starting with a dinner, then a short DVD presentation, then a chance to discuss the topic in a small group.

I know it is a far bit away but can I ask if you would make this a priority to put the date down, put aside ten Wednesday nights, start thinking about how you would like to invite and start praying for those people. Imagine the Church filled with people on a Wednesday night, sharing food, exploring the Christian faith, and seeing God move in people lives.

Looking forward to seeing what God will do among us this year

Yours in faith

Philip
