Good morning and a very warm welcome to you. We invite you to join us after the service for a hot drink and fellowship.

Wow what a weekend!

Around two hundred people from several Anglican Churches from the top of the South Island got together at Bethany Park Kaiteriteri. With a bit of rain around on the Friday night it made putting up tents a bit of a trick, but everyone got there in the end. The night started with Justin Duckworth telling us about himself, why he likes to not wear shoes, that when his name was put forward for Bishop he sat his three adult children down to tell them, and they all fell off their chairs with laughter.

On Saturday morning Justin spoke about how we can live our lives with intentional faith, within our home, family, work and leisure. There was a time of ministry were the Holy Spirit was moving with power in people as Justin called as to take up the challenge of living of radical faith.

Saturday afternoon was spent at the beach, then back to camp for burgers and ice blocks. Saturday night we had the opportunity to not only sit and listen, but to talk in small groups about how we actually live this stuff out every day.

On Sunday Justin again spoke on some practical ways in which we keep on going in the faith, that we are called to simply be obedient to what God calls us to do. This was followed by Communion. While all of this was going on in the main hall the Youth and Children had their programmes running. Throw together games, learning, food and a good dab of sun and you have the makings of a great weekend for young people.

All the talks have been recorded and will be up on the church website www.stbarnabas.co.nz for you to listen to.

Over the holiday time I was praying and reading the Bible and a passage in 1 Kings jumped out at me! It ‘s the account of when King Solomon brings the ark to the temple where God dwelled.

When the priests withdrew from the Holy Place, the cloud filled the temple of the Lord. And the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled his temple – 1 Kings 8:10-11

I will be speaking on this passage this morning ande will be using this passage as an underlying principle this year.

Yours in Christ

Philip
