Good morning and a very warm welcome to you. We invite you to join us after the service for a hot drink and fellowship.

Last week I attended the Bright Hope World leader’s summit meeting. As you know we have partnered with Bright Hope World as one of our mission partners. I was moved with the passion that the speakers showed as the talked about the work they are called to do, to help the poorest of the poor. Bright Hope World works mainly through key Christians and indigenous churches who understand their community and who can deliver holistic, unconditional compassion to all people, regardless of their gender, religion, race or ethnicity.

The strategy for helping the poorest of the poor comes from exceptional local people already based in and working effectively in these communities. Their partners know the issues and culture, and are extremely motivated and dedicated in working to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the poor. If you want to find out more about Bright Hope World you can check out their website www.brighthopeworld.com

A big thank you to Richard Currie for all his work on the Quiz Night last Friday, and thanks to all the people that helped with prizes, and food for supper, and bringing a team. We raised about $1500. Someone said to me that out of the 8 teams that only one had only people from Church in it, showing that the quiz night is an ideal opportunity for us to invite others into our church.

Today we come to the end of our series from Acts. When we started I had no idea that we would take half the year to get through it, but I have been really challenged and encouraged as we have worked our way through the beginnings of the early Church. There were some truly amazing people that did amazing things in Jesus name. We too are called to carry on the work, and take the good news about Jesus to the world. As we say most weeks in our communion “that we, filled with the spirits grace and power may be renewed for the service of your Kingdom”.

Spring Camp for our youth is not far away now. Registrations are now open – just head to the website nelsonanglicanyouth.org and sign up. All the info you need is on the site as well as in the mail heading your way with a treat. It’s going to be a great weekend. If you would like to help our youth get to camp this year mark you donation spring camp.

We are now gearing up for the church fair, on Saturday 29 October. There will be more information coming out over the next couple of weeks.

Yours in Christ

Phil
