The Inside Column 14/8

Good morning and a very warm welcome to you.  We invite you to join us after the service for a hot drink and fellowship.

Thank you all very much for all the help to run Synod. Thank you to all the people that baked, cleaned, set up, packed down, served, decorated, and all the other thousand things that went unseen. We would not have been able to host Synod without each of you playing your part. A big thank you to David Cowdrey for all the Tech support and extra work he put in, having things dropped on him last minute and making them work in a short time frame. Over all Synod was very successful and I think people were very pleased. THANK YOU!

On Sunday 4 September we are having a combined service with a breakfast starting at 9.00am and the service starting from 10.00am. Bishop Richard will be speaking at the service. Some have asked why do we have these breakfasts? So we can all get together and spend some time getting to know each other.

“Now you are the body of Christ, and each

one of you is a part of it”. – 1 Corinthians 12:27

One of the things that hosting Synod provided was the time for different groups  of people that don’t normally spend a lot of time with each other, to get to know each other in a whole new way, and this only happens when we spend time together. Can I ask that everyone puts the date in there diary and make the effort to come to the breakfast.

On Friday night 9 September we will be running our Quiz night. Again this is a chance for us to get a team together, and spend a fun night together. Richard Currie how puts the quiz together does a fantastic Job and runs one of the best Quiz nights going around. Get your team together now; invite your work friends, tickets on the night or from the church office.

I was listening to a talk this week about becoming a people of the teaching of the sermon of the mount – always good for us to think about.

‘You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses

its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It

is no longer good for anything, except to be

thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the

light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be

hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it

under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand,

and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In

the same way, let your light shine before others,

that they may see your good deeds and glorify

your Father in heaven.  – Matthew 5:13 – 16

Yours in Christ

Phil
