The Inside Column 27/3

Good morning and a warm welcome to all. If you are visiting with us today, we would love to get to know you. Please feel free to stay for a hot drink after the service.

He is risen…He is risen indeed!

This morning we are on the other side of the cross, today we celebrate the risen Christ. At Easter we spend a fair bit of time thinking about the death of Jesus and the week before his death, (and rightly so) and then sometimes we get to Easter Sunday and celebrate his overcoming the grave and move on pretty fast.

Yet it is this side of the cross that we are called to live in. We to are to take up our cross and follow Jesus, we don’t stay at the foot of the cross, Jesus is not there, he is alive, and he lives in you and me and through him we have life. This is truly something to celebrate this Easter morning.

There is a little line at the end of Johns Gospel in John 20: 30-31 that we should not overlook:

30 Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not  recorded in this book. 31 But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the  Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

Today day is a great time to believe, today is a great time to start to live, today is a great time to come to the rIsen Jesus. Amen!

On a different note, the AGM is just around the corner. Please check your details in the Parish Roll in the foyer. If you want to be added to the roll fill out a blue enrolment form.

One of the things that happens at the AGM is that people are nominated for Vestry (Vestry is the leadership team that helps run the church) and each year, even if people have been on vestry before they have to be nominated again. If you think you would like to be on Vestry you will need to get someone to nominate you, if you would like to nominate someone for Vestry you can do so as well. The people’s warden (the people’s voice in the vicar’s ear) is nominated and voted for at the AGM. All nominations need to be in by the Wednesday 6 April. If you have a question for the meeting please fill in a question slip. All forms are the foyer.

The closing date for AGM reports is this coming Wednesday 30 March. For those to whom this applies to, please make sure you meet this deadline so that we can produce the AGM

papers for Sunday 10 April.

Yours in Christ,

Phillip
