Good morning and a warm welcome to all. If you are visiting with us today, we would love to get to know you. Please feel free to stay for a hot drink after the service.

Prepare the way for change… It is with a mixture of sadness and joy the Lucy and I will be heading away next year. Joyful in expectation of how we can serve God and his church in Blenheim at Nativity parish, however it is sad that we are leaving St Barnabas parish to do this. I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you. The grace and love of God has been shared and imparted into the lives of young and old alike here at St Barnabas. It is great to see the love of God at work in our lives. Thank you for seeking to relate and connect to those nearby us who do not fully know the love of God.

I am encouraged that St Barnabas as a congregation has much to share with Stoke community. I first came here May 2011, just under 5 years ago. I was sent to work with troubled teenagers in South East Stoke at ‘House 44’ in Karaka Street. I was at a service station this week and saw two young adult men filling a car with fuel. They were heading out to Cable Bay, having just been swimming at the Aniseed valley river. Both yelled out to say ‘Hi’ and shared what they were up to. Time has sped by, they have grown up. It was good to see them doing positive activities and going places on their own where they had been on Boy’s Nights.

In leaving there is sadness. This is hard for us. Yet there is also opportunity for new things also. Please be prayerful as Phil seeks for a new church youth worker. I am confident that as you seek God together He will provide your every need and guide you into fruitful service. I believe God is preparing the way for new ministry opportunities as we leave.

We remain in Nelson until after the baby turns up at the end of February. My last service as curate here will be Sunday 27 December. From community/church youth worker, to curate – you have given me chance to grow and develop. Thank you.

Yours in Christ
