The Inside Column 18/10

Good morning and a warm welcome to all. If you are visiting with us today, we would love to get to know you. Please feel free to stay for a hot drink after the service.

A big thank you to all that helped with the Church fair yesterday, there is a lot of work done by many people that goes unseen. From the plants, sorting out the White Elephant, all the baking, books, morning teas, Ladies Guild,  set up, clean up and everything in-between, well done to everyone.

As you know we did a couple of things differently this year. We will review how these went and what we might be able to do next year.

Next week is the youth group Spring Camp. This is the youth event of the year! The place where our youth and youth leaders all gather together over one huge long weekend – to worship, to be inspired and encouraged, to have extreme fun, and to battle it out for ye olde mighty bishops log and bishops cup! We have a group going this year and it would be good if we could all be praying for our youth at this important time in their lives. Next month we will be baptizing some of the youth one Sunday after church probably down at Tahunanui beach. We will let you know dates when we have them but something to look forward to. Have you been baptised or confirmed? If you would like to make a public declaration of your faith, please talk to me after the service.

Next week we are having a combined church service. We are starting with a breakfast at 9.00am and start the service at 9.45am. We don’t get together that often so spending some extra time together over breakfast is an opportunity I would encourage you all to take. We will be running a more traditional Anglican Prayer Book service, so if you have never been to a Prayer Book service it might be a good opportunity to give it a go! If you were thinking of just coming to the services and skipping the breakfast, why not make the effort to come to the breakfast and meet some new people.

I hope the school holidays went well and you got to spend some time with the children and grandchildren. School holidays can feel very long or short to different people but I hope you all had some good times.

Yours in Christ

Philip
