The Inside Column 6/9

Good morning and a warm welcome to all. If you are visiting with us today, we would love to get to know you. Please feel free to stay for a hot drink after the service.

Today we have Bishop Richard with us, as we come to the end of our series from Romans.

Richard is going to be bring us an overview of all we have been looking at over the last couple of months. I asked him to do this after David Featherstone heard him speak on Romans and said it was “brilliant” When I ask Richard he said he had “spoken off the top of his head”, so imagine how good it will be when he has had time to think about it!

There has been a fair bit of illness around the last couple of weeks. Please keep those you know that are unwell in your prayers, and do let us know if you need some help. Margaret Hackston has a great team of people that will bring you soup and come for a visit if needed.

Thanks to all that took the time to fill in the Missions Survey, you can see the results in the insert this week. With this information the mission team and vestry will be able to make a more informed decision on where we head next year with our church mission giving.

Oh rats, the organ is broken! We have been in contact with our insurers and we are not covered for damage by vermin. The estimate to repair the organ is $14,000 so we have put out some Organ Repair Donation Envelopes in the foyer. If you would like to make a donation towards the cost of getting the organ back up and running then please do so. The organ repairers will be back in Nelson at the end of September and will take away the parts that need fixing, so the organ will be out of action for about 6-8 weeks.

We are starting to gear up for the church fair, there will be more information coming out over the next couple of weeks, but please book the date in your dairy, Saturday 17 October.

I was encouraged this week while reading Psalms… I thought I would share this from Psalm 27 with you:

One thing I ask from the Lord,

this only do I seek:

that I may dwell in the house of the Lord

all the days of my life,

to gaze on the beauty of the Lord

and to seek him in his temple.

Yours in Christ

Philip
