The Inside Column 23/8

Good morning and a warm welcome to all. If you are visiting with us today, we would love to get to know you. Please feel free to stay for a hot drink after the service.

Today is gift day. We have Gift Day to give thanks for all that God is doing and his great generosity and love to us. What you give back is between you and God and must always be done with a cheerful heart. Pledge cards are available in the foyer if you missed getting yours last Sunday. We are not only asking for financial support but we are asking you to consider where you can give your time and skills as well. If you are visiting with us today there is no expectation for you to give, gift day is for the St Barnabas church family.

Over the last few weeks, we have been exploring themes in Romans about putting our love into action, about the body all working together, and that we all have a role to play. If you are not giving regularly to the church and would like to, the best way for you to do so is through  automatic payment. Our bank account details are on the back page of the pew sheet and can be set up easily through internet banking.

“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”    – 2 Corinthians 9:7

Up until the end of June our operating surplus including interest from trust accounts is $7,533.00 which is a great blessing as we had budgeted for a deficit of $11,735.00 at this stage of the year. For more details refer to June Profit & Loss Summary available in the Foyer.

Moving forward we will incur some unbudgeted expenses because of our ongoing commitment to Jonathan’s employment.

We are about two months away from the church fair. The date for this year’s fair isSaturday 17 October, so put aside the day so you can come and help. If you have White Elephant stuff, books, clothes, they can be dropped in of in the church hall weekdays from 8.30am to 12.00noon. There will be a couple of little changes to the Fair this year as we think about new ways we can be a blessing to the Stoke community.

Yours in Christ

Philip
