Good morning and a warm welcome to all. If you are visiting with us we would love to get to know you. Please feel free to stay for a hot drink after the service.

Next week we will be having a guest speaker, Ruth Ellena –  Yes, the Bishop’s daughter-in-law. Ruth is a member of St Stephens Church, she has three children and there is one on the way. I met Ruth a couple of years ago and she is one of those people whose faith shines out of them. I find I can’t talk to her with out being challenged about my own faith.

Ruth will be speaking to us about generosity and the following week it will be our yearly gift day celebration service. We don’t talk about money very often, but we do want to give everyone a chance to think about their giving. On gift day we will be looking back at the year, giving thanks for all ministries and outreach St Barnabas has been involved in, and giving thanks for Gods provision.

We have gift day to give thanks for all that God is doing and his great generosity and love to us. What you give back is between you and God and must always be done with a cheerful heart.  There will be some financial information for you to look at next week to see how we are tracking this year. Pledge cards will be available  for you to fill out. We are not only asking for financial support but we are asking you to consider where you can give your time and skill as well.

As we have been looking at in Romans about the body all working together, we all have a role to play. If you are not giving regularly to the church and would like to, the best way for you to do so is through automatic payment. Our bank account details are on the back page of the pew sheet.

Each of you should give what you have  decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

                   – 2 Corinthians 9:7
