The Inside Column 15/3

Good morning and a warm welcome to all. If you are visiting with us we would love to get to know you. Please feel free to stay for a hot drink after the service.

Over the last couple of months we have been thinking about what it might look like to have our world view centred on Christ. This is not a new idea that I made up, but one that over the centuries many people have thought about and wrestled with. How do we keep ourselves centred on Christ?

Brother Lawrence, a Parisian Carmelite monk said in 1666  “We should fix ourselves firmly in the presence of God by conversing all the time with Him…we should feed our soul with a lofty conception of God and from that derive great joy in being his. We should put life in our faith. We should give ourselves utterly to God in pure abandonment, in temporal and spiritual matters alike, and find contentment in the doing of His will, whether he takes us through sufferings or consolations.”

I don’t know about you, but for me it is a constant struggle keeping my focus on Christ, there are so many things trying to take my attention and keep me thinking about other things. We have looked over the last couple of weeks at the practice of Prayer, Bible reading and today we are going to start to look at how encountering God can help us to keep centred in Christ.

Well done to all those that put on the banquet in the vines last night, it is a lot of work for and you do an amazing job year after year to raise money for those that are in need. It is incredible to think about how much can be achieved when a small group of people work together for a common goal, you girls are amazing!

This Thursday night at 7.00 pm is the church AGM, all are welcome to attend.

Thank you to everyone that helped to buy the new chairs for the church, I think they look great.

Thanks to the Ladies Guild for the donation to help the youth get down to Easter Camp this year. It is greatly appreciated.

Yours in Christ

Philip
