The Inside Column 15/2

Good morning and a warm welcome to all. If you are visiting with us we would love to get to know you. Please feel free to stay for a hot drink after the service.

Over the last couple of weeks we have been thinking about what it means to view the world through the view of the Kingdom of God. Last week we look at how through Prayer we can start to have our world view changed and shaped.

The challenge…

Get together with one or two others weekly and start to pray

Come to the Tuesday morning prayer meeting from 7.30am

Start a second weekly prayer group at a different time

Read some books about prayer

…and most importantly start to pray!

How do we learn to pray? Mother Theresa said:

“By praying.… If you want to pray better, you must pray more.”

The Psalms can be a great places for us to look when we come to prayer. From Psalm 147

It’s a good thing to sing praise to our God;
praise is beautiful, praise is fitting.
GOD’s the one who rebuilds Jerusalem,
who regathers Israel’s scattered exiles.
He heals the heartbroken
and bandages their wounds.
He counts the stars
and assigns each a name.
Our Lord is great, with limitless strength;
we’ll never comprehend what he knows and does.
GOD puts the fallen on their feet again
and pushes the wicked into the ditch.
Sing to GOD a thanksgiving hymn,
play music on your instruments to God,
Who fills the sky with clouds,
preparing rain for the earth,
Then turning the mountains green with grass,
feeding both cattle and crows.
He’s not impressed with horsepower;
the size of our muscles means little to him.
Those who fear GOD get GOD’s attention;
they can depend on his strength.

Don’t forget church camp next week; come out for the day if you can’t make it for the whole time. It is going to be a great time of fun and friendship.

Remember that we are having a Combined Service at 9.30am next week here at St Barnabas. Please tell everyone you know about the change in service time.

Yours in Christ
