The Inside Column 2/11

Good morning and a warm welcome to all.

If you are visiting with us we would love to get to know you after the service. Please feel free to stay for a hot drink.

Last week the youth group had the weekend away at Spring Camp – a lot of work for Jonathan. I have spoken to some of the youth that went and they all said they had an amazing time.

From my own experience, camp can be where we experience God for the first time, where we have time away from our normal everyday life and we can encounter God in a whole new way. I ask that we all pray for the youth and their leaders, even more over the next couple weeks. Ask especially that what has been planted in them will not be stolen away, but will grow. Don’t forget about or Church camp in February. Info in Foyer.

A big thank you to everyone that helped with the church fair yesterday. It is only as we all work together and do our little bit that events like this can happen. One of the highlights of the fair is always the fellowship that takes place and I know this year, even with all the hard work you have all done, it will be the time spent together working for the same goal that will be the lasting memory.

Over the next couple of weeks we will be looking at the subject of Hearing from God. I came across an article this week that gave two keys for us that help us to hear from God. I hope you find these ideas helpful.

“The first key to hearing God’s voice is to go to

a quiet place and still our own thoughts and

emotions.”

Psalm 46:10 encourages us to be still, let go, cease striving, and know that He is God. In Psalm 37:7 we are called to “be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him.”

“The second key to hearing God’s voice: As

you pray, fix the eyes of your heart upon

Jesus, seeing in the Spirit the dreams and

visions of God.”

God has always spoken through dreams and visions, and he specifically said that they would come to those upon whom the Holy Spirit is poured out (Acts 2:1-4, 17).

Reflection Questions:

How does God speak to you?

Do you make time to hear from him?

Does God want to talk with you?

Yours in Christ

Phil
