Good Morning and a very warm welcome to all. If you are visiting with us today we pray you will feel at home here at St Barnabas. Please make yourself known and feel welcome to stay for tea or coffee after the service.

Last week’s lunch was a fantastic occasion! Thanks to everyone who came along and helped out, it was great being able to connect over lunch as a wider church. Thanks to the children and Youth for the energy and excitement they brought to the service – even though I and others ended up with a face full of green Jelly. The best combined service I can remember in a long time.

Guess who’s coming to dinner is a fun evening open to everyone. The idea is that some people host a dinner party and some people go to the dinner party. The host is in charge of the main meal and the guests will be asked to bring a dish. Anne Egan and Cathy King are organising this event. There are sign up cards in the foyer. It is a great way for us to get to know some people we might not know that well. The date is Saturday 13 of September. All are welcome to attend. If you are interested in being a part of this evening we need to have your registration card today. Don’t miss out.

A couple of week ago we had the pews out of the church, so we borrowed 80 chairs from All Saints Church and put them out in the main body of our Church. Apart for people’s chins hitting the floor when they came into Church there was a very positive response to having chairs in the Church rather than the pews. The main feedback was about having somewhere to put our books and Bibles. There are several good reasons for having Chairs over the pews, the main one being that the space becomes a lot more flexible in how we can use it, enabling us to set up according to the requirements of  various groups. I was amazed at the difference the chairs made to the feel and unity of both services, simply by physically being closer together. And of course, there is the added benefit of increased seating comfort! With this in mind we would love to get some chairs. They are one hundred dollars a chair. If you would like to buy a chair or two or ten for the church we will have some envelopes in the pews over the next couple of weeks. We would like to get 100 chairs to start with. Do we have 100 people buy one chair each?

Please keep praying for the Neal family for  Lauren, that she will make a full recovery.

Yours in Christ

Philip
