Good morning and a very warm welcome to you all. If you are a visitor we hope you will stay for a cuppa after the service.

After three weeks away working around home, going to Christchurch to look at a couple of other Churches and visiting some of the Churches around Nelson, it is good to be back.

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome last Sunday night. Thanks to all that helped with the shared dinner, it was so nice to come back and see everyone enjoying themselves as they broke bread together.

Thanks to the wardens for all the hard work and planning for the service, and all the other stuff you have done over the last couple of months. Thanks to the vestry team for all their support over the last couple of months us well, thanks to Eric for preaching and leading over the last three weeks, and thanks to all the people who have given me their support and encouraged me over the last couple of months as we have worked our way through the process of finding a Vicar. Thank you all very much.

Quiz Night – Quiz Night – Quiz Night -Quiz Night
Our Quiz night is coming up fast, get you team booked in now. On Friday the 25 July starting at 7.00pm we will be running our world famous (in Stoke) Quiz night. The cost this year is $100 for a team of up to 8 people, with all the profits going to support the work of the church and the work that Jonathan is involved in with Stoke Youth. The opportunity for us to bring some friends, some people from work to the church and for them to have a great fun night. Who knows – it might be all it takes to break down some ones negative mind set about what a church is? The Quiz night is a fun night out get your team book in now.

We are also looking for some prizes for the prizes table – a nice Bottle of wine, ask your boss for a donation, we have had people give their baches for a weekend stay for us to
auction off. It all helps. Tickets from David in the church office.

This week the staff team will be away from Monday until Wednesday at Clergy Conference up at the lake. This is a chance for us to hear from a great speaker and to spend some time with the other leaders from around the Diocese. Please keep us in your prayers.

And of course the BIG EVENT happening is that next weekend Jonathan gets married. There is a special morning tea between the services today for us all to wish Jonathan and Lucy all the best for their future.

God Bless

Philip
