Good Morning and a very warm welcome to all.

If you are visiting with us today we pray you will feel at home here at St Barnabas. Please make yourself known and feel welcome to stay for tea or coffee after the service.

Church camp this weekend. As a number of our parishioners are at camp, we are having just one service at 9.30am today. Bob Barrett, whose  passion is to see local communities of faith develop to their God-given potential, is preaching this morning.

Just a quick update on some of the Youth Programmes we are running in 2014. We run three different strands of youth ministry here at St Barnabas.

Community Youth – We open our buildings to the youth local college aged youth on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons for an after school programme. This is done in conjunction with the Nelson City Council and ‘The Truck’ recreation services. A great big thanks to you for the biscuits and other food supplies that have been so generously supplied. I can assure you they are appreciated by the young people who come along.

Boy’s and Girl’s Nights – We run a couple of gender specific groups called ‘Boy’s Night’ and ‘Girl’s Night.’ Each night we have a meal, spend time together doing activities here at St Barnabas and further afield in the community. Thank you for all who have decided to help provide meals for the Boy’s and Girl’s Night evening groups. We have already received and devoured the first lovely meal of the term! If you are interested in supporting the groups this way please talk directly to Helen Webber who is coordinating a roster.

St Barnabas Youth – Term one and two this year we are going to run a Youth Alpha group on Wednesday evenings. Please pray for the young people who attend and the leaders. Youth Alpha is a basic foundational exploration about Christian faith. St Barnabas Friday evening Youth Programme kicks off with a ‘welcome back‘ movie night on the Friday 21 February. For more details see the poster in the foyer for the Term One Youth Plan and event details.

I’m slowly recovering from my recent foot operation. Hobbling along with the aid of crutches, taking things easy into the first term’s activities.

Yours in Christ

Jonathan
