Good morning and a very warm welcome to all

Today we have Luke Shaw the Diocese Youth Leader and lead singer of City of Light band speaking to us. He will be speaking on the miracle of Jesus walking on water from Mark 6.

I have to say that Luke has been doing a fantastic job with youth around the diocese, and in particular the spring camp. This year there were around 140 youth and leaders at the camp and all the feedback I have had is that it was a wonderful time. I have heard that there where several youth that made a first time commitment to Jesus, and there where many other great times of worship and ministry. I know Luke put in a lot of work in the lead up to spring camp and that the camp itself is pretty intense. I know he needs our prayers and support for his ministry

Can you believe that Christmas is only six weeks away? As we celebrate the season of Advent, we have some additional events in the lead up to Christmas day. On Wednesday 11 December we will have ‘Shine’ (Carols on the lawn) from 5.30pm. Then on Sunday 15 December we have our traditional Christingle family service at 10.00am. On Christmas Eve Tuesday 24 December we have our midnight candlelight service with communion at 11.00pm Our Christmas Day service will be at a communion service on 25 December at 9.30am.
Christmas is of course a time for us to be a witness to the wider community that don’t normally come to church. Pray for our Christmas services. Invite your neighbours, friends and family to join with us as we celebrate the birth of Christ together.

Last year we were able to give many of the youth Jonathan works with a small gift of toiletries like deodorant, toothbrushes, soap, and fragrances. We would love to be able to do this again, so if you would like to donate to this you can bring your gift and put it in the food basket on Sunday or come and drop it of a the office. You might want to stop by and catch up with what Jonathan is up to with the community youth at the moment.

Don’t forget to sign up for the upcoming February church camp at Kaiteriteri. A limited number of cabins are available and these will are being allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. We are starting to get phone calls from the other church people as the camp is open to the Nelson and Waimea deaneries – so get in quickly!

God Bless
