The Inside Column 22/9

Good morning and a very warm welcome to all, if you are visiting we hope you feel at home, and we would love you to stay for a hot drink at the end of the service.

We continue our series out of Mark’s Gospel. Mark is such a good book to help us build a deeper relationship with Jesus. It allows us to get to know Him as the Christ and then understand what it means to be one of his disciples.

So far Mark has laid out his case for Jesus being the Christ:

1.   Mark 1:1 – This Jesus is the Christ the Son of God through whom

salvation comes

Mark 1:2-8 – This is attested to by

John the Baptist.

3.   Mark 1:9-13 – Jesus’ identity is

established in God and his

temptation reflects the work of his

ministry in overcoming sin.

Now that he has laid a good foundation for Jesus being the Christ, Mark moves into Jesus’ ministry and the call to follow Him.

I will be taking the first week of the School Holidays off to go away with the family. When I get back from that, we (the staff team) are off Picton for Synod. I will only be away for one Sunday so if you want something during the week David will be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.

The Church fair is not far away now, If you have anything that can go into the white Elephant, you can bring it in now.  Please ring the office to make sure David or I are here before you come to drop your stuff off, and if you need us to come around and pick stuff up we can do that to. You might want pot some plants, start doing some baking and freezing it for the baking stall. Please make sure you keep the Saturday 2 November free to come along and help at the fair.

The Tuesday prayer meeting this week will be the last of the 7.00am starts. After the school holidays the prayer meeting time will be from 7.30am until 8.30am.  Prayer is the power behind all we do as a church, and the hope is with the later start time more people will be able to come and pray. If you are unable to join us at this time you might like to get     together with a couple of others from time to time, to pray for the work and life of the church.

Have a great week!

Yours in Christ,

Philip
