Good Morning and a very warm welcome to all. If you are visiting with us today we pray you will feel at home here at St Barnabas. Please make yourself known and feel welcome to stay for tea or coffee after the service.

Last week we had a very happy and positive AGM. Thanks to all those that made the effort to come along and to those that shared their ideas and thoughts. We will be working through how we can best move forward with some of these ideas.

Intimacy with God – Is it what we want? Last week I wrote about having a daily Bible reading plan, with the idea been that if we want intimacy with God we probably should start with reading His Word, The Bible. Over the next couple of weeks I would like us to think about some other ways we might be able to do to draw closer to God.

Have you ever been part of a Small Group, or Home Group? No matter who you are, what you do, or where you’re at in life, Home groups are a great way for you to find a way into community. I have seen people thrive when they are in a community where they can be known, with friends that help them ‘do life’ well. Home Groups are a great way for people to create authentic communities in which they can relate closely, and practice loving God, one another, and the wider world. It can be hard to get to know people well when we only see each other for an hour on a Sunday morning. Being part of a small group is a way for us to encourage each other on us disciples.

We read in Acts 2 about the disciples’ lives:

All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts.

We want everyone to feel welcome and be part of a real community here at St Barnabas. One way for us to become a community where people share their lives in the good times and the not so good times is in the Small Groups, where people have plenty of opportunity to be involved, and have a launching pad to spur each other on to love and good deeds.

If you would like more information or want to find about joining a home group please call the office.

Yours in Christ
Philip
