Good morning and a very warm welcome to all.

Last week I attended a New Wine three day leadership event up in Wellington. New wine is a non-denominational group, that has come from the New Wine network from the UK. The organisation has been around for a long time and their goal is to support churches throughout New Zealand with camps, training days and leaders events.

God is touching hearts and transforming lives and sometimes we’ve just got to celebrate. The summer festivals are a chance to get together for five days and encounter God through worship, teaching and ministry. We come from all over, we’re all ages, we’re individuals and churches, we are celebrating God in our nation. Wednesday 16th to Sunday 20th of January 2013 at Kaiapoi.

New Wine Kaiapoi commences on the evening of Wednesday 16th and  finishes midday on Sunday 20th. My family will be going this year and I think it would be amazing if some others from church would like to join us. This is the first time we will be going, but I have heard great stories from others that have gone and had a amazing time.

With only 6 weeks until Christmas, planning for 2013 is underway. Next year we are getting an intern from the BTC. Her name is Victoria Asken and she comes to us via Picton where she has led the  children’s ministry under Richard Dyer, and before that, Holy Trinity Richmond. Victoria will be in her second year at BTC and will be working at developing our worship teams and working with Jonathan and the youth. The  internship program works with the church covering a small percentage of the cost and BTC covering the other part of the costs.Victoria will be a exciting addition to the team here and my hope is that we will be able to  support her in her study and ministry.

Jill Smith has recently retired after serving for 8 years as Lay Canon Cathedral Chapter. Bishop Richard has honoured Jill by appointing her Lay Canon Emeritus of Christ Church Cathedral. Congratulations Jill!

God bless you this week.

Have a great week

Yours in Christ

Philip
