The Inside Column 22/7

A very warm welcome to all this morning

Today we are having the youth help and run different parts of our service. Jonathan has been leading the youth group this year and they meet every Sunday for Bible study and fun games, and on every second Friday night for social activity. As a parent of one of the youth, I can say Jonathan is doing a great job, and I know we will all be blessed by today’s service.

Last week you were given an up to date finance report. If you did not get one they will be available at the back of church. Today you will have been given our vision book with a card for you to fill in and bring back to next week’s combined thanksgiving and gift day service. I would love everyone that does anything at St Barnabas to fill in the card, and when we take up the offering to come up the front and put it in the basket at the front of the stage. This request is for all those who call St Barnabas home.

The reasons for doing this…

We want to give people a chance to be involved in the life of the church’s vision and mission.

We want to address our financial situation.

We want our giving to be a celebration of joy and worship.

Giving like this is not something many of us have done before, but I would like to encourage you over the next week to spend some time in prayer giving thanks for all of God’s blessing in our life, and asking how you might get involved, and what you might like to give financially to the Church and its vision.

Paul says in Colossians 1:10-15

10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, 12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. 13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Yours in Christ

Philip
