The Inside Column 20/11

Good morning and a very warm welcome to you all. I was away all last week at a New Wine Conference (3 days), then a catch up with family in Hamilton, then two days in Auckland to see what they were up to at St Paul’s in the City.

It was really encouraging to see what other churches are doing and spending time with other church leaders. Key questions I came away with were these:

1. What is our church culture?
2. Can the church leaders articulate it?
3. Can the people in our church easily articulate it?

I believe this is something for us to think about and work on next year.

Shine Shine Shine

Not long to go now! Planning is well under way and if you have not signed up to help in one of the teams now is the time. Shine will be an amazing time for us as a church to bless the Stoke
community this Christmas and to lift the profile of the church.

Invitation cards will be available next week for you to take and invite all your neighbours, friends and family -the more the merrier.

Resurgence is coming

Next year February 10,11,12th the Diocese is putting on a major event call Resurgence. Leader’s day is Friday 10 February. The open conference is Saturday 11 February. I would love as many of us as possible to attend.

The keynote speaker is Mike Pilavachi, Senior Pastor of the Soul Survivor Watford church which he set up in 1993 along with worship leader Matt Redman. He was a youth worker at St Andrew’s with David Pytches and Barry Kissell who launched New Wine.

There will be a range of seminars and speakers. Registrations will start at the end of November and numbers are limited, so we need to be in quickly.

I have been asked to help run the prayer ministry for the event. Plan to attend the prayer ministry course in late Jan early Feb next year.

Mike will be speaking on Sunday 12th Feb here at our 945 service, followed with a picnic in the park. Resurgence is a not-to-be-missed-event, so mark your diaries and register early.

Yours in Christ
